Real quick (and potentially stupid) question-
Can the iTunes library on an iMac be shared with a PC on a home network?

If you enable sharing in iTunes on the Mac, then yes.

iTunes 9 makes it too easy

Go to the Advanced menu and select 'Turn on Home Sharing' on each machine.
This will enable you to share, move or just stream from one to the other.

Thanks guys. On a related note, why is it that the "Shared Library" is not always listed on my MBP when I open iTunes? I have it set in preferences to automatically search for the shared library; is there some type of "refresh" button?

Nevermind, I think I figured out why; my iMac went into Sleep mode, and I guess the MBP could not access it.

On your Mac, at least those running Snow Leopard - open up:

System Preferences - Energy Saver - Power Adapter tab

place a check mark next to 'Wake for Ethernet network access'

I knew there must be some way to keep it connected, but I have that checked and it doesn't wake my iMac up. Strange.

I was interested in this as well. I am running Leopard, and have that checked as well, but it doesn't automatically wake up my iMac either. I am wondering if I have some other syncing problem with my iMac, as it has never synced my iCal if I input items on my iPhone. Anyone have any possible solutions?
