OK, I admit it. I'm a noob when it comes to watching TV on my computer. I tried it for the first time tonight, watching about 1/2 of Pelham 123 on Sling. I was viewing it on my Apple 23" Cinema Display. It seemed satisfactory. I'm sick of seeing the same old reruns over and over on my basic channel cable TV, and I'm thinking I might just cancel that service and start depending on my Mac for occasional video entertainment. So, my question for you is: Do you use your computer for TV, and if so what kind of set up do you have? What video sources do you find you use the most, Sling, Hulu, etc. Are there subscription services that you find worthwhile? Thanks!

The majority of TV that I watch on my MBP are network shows that I missed when they originally aired. So if I don't catch the NBC lineup Thursday night, I'll watch it Friday night. Currently I'm hooking the MBP to my SONY Trinitron (32" or 36" - I forget) in the living room and watching shows that way. But I've ordered cables for my new 32" LCD TV in the bedroom to start watching shows on it. Much better picture in there! Oh yeah, and I've rented a few movies from iTunes and watched them on the TV too. |

I'm so behind in all this. I didn't even know you could rent movies from iTunes. I was just looking at sony HDTVs at Walmart online. Will they all connect and display OK out of a new Mac mini, or is there some special configuration needed? I'm thinking about buying a new TV and Mac Mini specifically to use together and I don't want to make an expensive mistake.
