Hi, I'm having a problem with my files turning into "read only" files with out me telling them to, then I can't change them back. I'm on my work computer and there are a couple other users that have accounts, but I'm set as an administrator. This doesn't happen to all of my files. When I go to "Get Info" to turn it off, the drop down menu is greyed out and I can't click on anything, so I can't change it back. What do you think the problem is? Is there something I can do about this?
Thanks Cassi |

The files aren't being transferred, and it's a variety of files such as TIFF and Word docs. This sounds stupid, but I don't know what you mean by specs. It's version 10.3.9... is that what you meant?
It's my work environment. I'm a graphic design intern and I come in 2 hours everyday. It's a quiet office; I only have 3 other people in the room with me. Other people have access to the guest account because the scanner is hooked up to my computer, but my account is password protected and no one uses it but me. Cassi |

to repair permissions, open disk utility located in the utilities folder inside applications folder, when it opens, it should say gathering info, after that, select your hd in the list on the left, then to the right of the list, close to the bottom center, is a button that says repair disk permissions, click it, let it run its course, then restart. you should do this after every os update/upgrade and after installing new software or whenever things start acting up.

A lot of random stuff was flowing by in the window while it was repairing, but I didn't notice anything when it was done. I can open the files and save as something else, but it's just annoying when I'm linked to say a jpeg file in InDesign and have to edit it. If it's the same name I can just update the link, but if I save it as something else then I have to relink. So I guess it's not too terrible, just inconvenient.
