Having Problems Networking

Hello, I'm trying to network my iBook with my PC Laptop using a crossover cable. I have done it before, but now i cant get either one to see the other one. Any help?

Quick and dirty,

Manually plug in the IP's, 192.168.0.1 and 0.2, Subnet of 255.255.255.0
and no gateway/router IP.

Turn on Windows File Sharing on the Mac.
Turn on File Sharing on the PC.

Use Command-K on the Mac to open a share on the PC, ie: cifs://192.168.0.x/c$

on the PC, Start > Run type in \\192.168.0.x\username
