1st I'd try repair permissions - have seen it fix some pretty strange things here lately.

Next, try moving the preference file to the desktop - am assuming this is the only issue you have. Located at Users / your user / Library / Preferences / com.Apple.SystemPreferences.plist - Log out and back in.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Any error messages?

Open up Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/) and execute the following (copy & paste it and press enter):
Code:
/Applications/System\ Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System\ Preferences
Does anything get printed (written) back in the Terminal?

Utilities / Disk Utilities

Highlight MacIntosh HD on the left, you'll see the option to repair permissions.

You can try it, but I'm guessing you have something worse going on with a return of No such file or directory.

Is System Preferences not in your /Applications directory? If not, there's your problem.

Vansmith what do I need to do to get it working again?

bobtomay I did what you suggested I verified then repaired and so much stuff came up it was to much to list. SUID and warnings and such. Stuff I could not comprehend. At the end it said something is at 80 but should be 0??? But still no system preferences.

Thanx for the help...
