greetings--I am new to the Mac world. I am trying to create a spreadsheet in Numbers to inventory items. The first one that I was trying to do was a list of guns that i own--serial numbers, cost, rifle, pistol etc. What I am trying to do is in the first column have auto numbering so that if i sell or trade a gun the number count remains accurate. I can get the columns to be numbered but if I add a row(new gun in the middle of the list) it is not numbered ... I can not figure out how to format the very first column. I have read the IWork manual and this escapes me.

thanks
