i finally got a G5! it rocks so much.. its 1.8 w/ gig ram and superdrive 17".
glad to move away from that 600 mhz ibook.. even though i still have it lol.

Congrats! You had me scared with the title there for a moment. At first I thought you were posting that there had been an iMac update and my month and a half old baby would already be out dated. :/ Speed wise your specs are the same as mine so I can promise you'll be happy with the performance.

yeah, its a awesome machine. it can play games like halo pretty well. my only complaint is that the cpu fan can get sort of loud sometimes, but ive heard of other people complain about that, so it must be normal. but id make that tradeoff for the G5 power any day!

You likely already know this, but keep in mind that under the power saver menu in system preferences you can choose the CPU 'speed' from low, to automatic, to highest. I find that my iMac usually doesn't make a peep in automatic, unless I have quite a few apps open, and really only become audible when set in highest while doind something intesive (like backing up a DVD.)
