I've just seen content index in the Get Info.

Is there any reason why I should index the hard drive? And if so, should I do it often?

indexing the drive just basically makes a list of everything on it and their locations, indexng only makes it faster when youre searching for something or defragmenting your hard drive, whic is rarely needed.
