    Problems using fast switching
    Hi all,

bei using the fast switching, once The user is swapped, the system is blocking and I can watch the colored ball. This appears with all the users ( we're three to use the machine).
Nothing more is running ( ping from another PC returns a "host is down"!! ) so the system is complitely out! the only thing I can is a brutal power off ( pushing the power on/off more than 5 seconds; you know).

    Config: Panther 10.3.8

so if you could help, would be happier!!

Run all the Maintenance scripts and disk utilities repair permissions and try making a new user and see if that is also effected.

You could also try disconnecting all external apps to see if it's effecting things.

    Hi,

I mean, I can switch to another user with no issues ( cube effect works just fine), I get the swirling beach ball cursur when the Desktop and icons etc.. are loaded.

Does it work when you don't use fast user switching. In other words, log in one at a time?

Have you tried deleting the users and setting them up again?

    Unhappy fast switching issue
By login at once a time, I have no issues.
I also tried the Repair-utility disc application: with no success.
Adding and deleting new user does't work either.
Once I get switched, I have to power-off brutally!!
    Should I re-install panther?? I guess yes.

No. Try switching off FileVault first. If it is already switched off, then maybe u have to take the extreme step of a reinstall.

    Talking
I was told not to set FileVault because it's not really working well...
So it wasn't enabled. I've just re-installed the whole system; backed-up all personal files ( entourage, User-data and so on) into the iPod!! and then moved all from the iPods into the freshed installed system. Great!!

    Now I am Happy...
