I'm partial to the standard PC keyboards and mice
and was wondering if there's any problem with
using a cordless optical mouse designed for PCs
with the Mac. I'm placing an order at XPC gear for
a few keyboards and a notebook drive enclosure
and may add at least a Microsoft optical mouse to
the order. I like to keep spare parts at home so
it would just be a spare if it didn't work but I have
seen some third-party mice at CompUSA in the
Apple section before.

If its USB, and you're using OSX, you can use any mouse you wish

My Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo works great with my mac. Install microsofts drivers so all the buttons work, like the 3rd and 4th buttons. 2 mouse buttons and a scroll wheel will work without extra software though.

Cool. Do the PowerMacs come with a zillion USB ports on them? Time to place an order at xpcgear.com.

Stopped by CompUSA. It appears that there are two in the front and three in the back.
Couldn't fully verify the three in the back but they appeared thin enough to be USB.

One other thing that I noticed is that I ran a Javascript benchmark on a 1.3 Ghz Powerbook. Performance results were terrible on Safari and Internet Explorer coming in at over ten times longer than my AMD 2.0 Ghz notebook running Firefox.
QUOTE Thanks
