Hello,

I recently downloaded Skype. I find it useful and want to keep it.

But the log-in page opens on my desktop every time I switch my Macbook on.
How can I prevent this from happening?
I've also noticed that the Macbook takes longer to start up than it used to. I realise this may be unconnected, but I want to get rid of Skype on start up, anyway. I'm happy to have it in the dock, but that's enough.

Thanks, CB

If the Skype icon 'S' is on your Dock, right click on it and un-check the Open at login. This should stop it booting in when you start up your computer.

Excellent!

I knew there would probably be a simple way to do this.
Still very new to Macs and finding my way around them.

Many thanks, Gandalph.

There will also probably be a check box in the Skype preferences, you might want to check that's unchecked too.

If you don't want the computer to start at the login screen, simply go to System Preferences and click on Accounts. Unlock the settings by entering your password (if need be). Then click on Login Options. Make sure that the Automatic login option says your name and is not set to disabled. Make the change and you should be good to go.
