Even when you're not doing anything, the OS may occasionally need to read/write from the hard drive. But if it's a sharp metallic "clack" that's louder than normal HD usage, it might be a problem. |

My mini is so quiet it's really hard to tell as it's in a room with a noisy PC Server with lots of cooling, But even when I first unpacked it and tried it in the front room, it's so dang quiet. There might be a small noise once in a while when the drive seeks.
I would have to turn off every noise in the house to hear anything from it. |
