I'm due to be starting college later this year and as im taking media as a subject i'll come into close use with macs.

At home i enjoy making youtube projects etc on my windows machine.
recently i have thought of purchasing a mac, i was jst wondering if it was worth me buying a macbook.
Programs i am inderested in a imovie, final cut pro, photoshop etc
I'm sick of my windows machines being lagged up because of virus's and the constant virus checks are so annoying, on top of all that i hate the OS. After being on a friends mac i can say that it was an absolute joy to use.

But is it worth me paying 600 or so to get a macbook for my needs.

Help?!?

It's your money and only you can decide if you wish to spend that much on a MacBook. Having said that, a Mac is an excellent machine to use for university work and all the applications you're interested in. If you've used your friend's Mac then you know how user friendly it is and how much better the operating system is than Windows.

You mentioned spending 600.00. I'm assuming you're referring to a used MacBook not a new one since that would equate to around $831.00 US, much less than the cost of new machine.

Regards.
