I took the leap!

I ordered my new 17"PB today! It sohuld ship on or before 2/17. I hope it ships early like some others I've read about (it's a stock model).

I'm excited to switch.

Any advice on what to do when you open up a new Mac?

Thanks! I'm switching from a Sony VAIO Laptop, PIII 850 MHz, 256 MB RAM, 20 Gb Hd, running Win2K. I've had the thing for 5 years. The power supply on the logic board failed a year and a half ago, so I can't use AC power without a docking station. Inconvenient! I couldn't get it repaired, a new system board was way too expensive. Win2K is ok, but no matter how many reformats/installs I do, it always starts to get buggy.

What sold me on a Mac was OSX, hands down. It is amazing to use.

My 17" is the stock model, it seems like quite an upgrade!

We suggest you load a good productivity suite and get to rewriting that hitchhikers guide you promised us.

I did buy iWork! That would be a heck of an endorsement for Apple: creating the the software used to write the most amazing book in the universe, even more popular than the Encyclopedia Galactica.
