Note taking software?

I was in the apple store the other day and seen some note taking software, i'm a college student and was wanting to know what you all thought was the best note taking software?? all input will be greatly appreciated.

what was the name of the software? is it one of those where you speak into your mic and it turns it into text?

MS Word 2004 has a Notebook view

I've used OmniOutliner in the past, too. There's a free trial

Sometimes, though, a simple text editor is best

I'm pretty partial to MS word:mac's notebook view... the autobulleting and such makes things really easy to organize and review later.

I am my self partial to the MS Word:mac's notebook view, it is situated so it is like you are typingin in a notebook. Keeps your school notes very organized.
