hiding,locking folders and shut down game freeze

and while playn this game i have to shut the mac down via the push button when i make any changes to the graphics settings. i tried the cmd and esc key i think it is to force quit,but that doesnt work,maybe im doing it wrong,but i dont want to shut down everytime via the power button. |
