Printing is so slow in OS X compared to my XP?

Hey guys just a question. I have a Lexmark Z65 printer. On my Dell with XP its amazingly fast, prints like one page in 5 seconds of black text. I installed the driver from Lexmark into os 10.3 on my new powerbook and it works fine. Only thing is its SOOO slow. It took like 2-3 minutes just to print 4 simple pages of text, it's like it's printing at a really high resolution or something but I'm not sure how to change it. My friend said OS X prints at 720dpi by default or something? Is there a way to speed this up so it's like my pc?
QUOTE Thanks
