I just bought an imac and have over 100gb of info from pc I need to move.

I have the mac plugged into my pv with an ethernet cable but everytime I try to transfer files it fails. I can open shared files on the PC/Mac no problem though.

So, I disabled the share files and folders using SMB option in the mac preferences. It works now, the problem is at a much slower speed. It's taken half an hour to transfer 100MB.

Help! What am I doing wrong? Is their a third party product I can get?

Buy an external hrad drive.
Use this to transfer your files.
When finished you can use it for backups etc..

Have you added both machines to a single workgroup? Do you have Airport enabled on the iMac? Does the PC have a wireless card that might still be enabled? Are you using the Connect to Server option to mount the shared folder(s) on the PC?
