I know command Q quits an application but say for instance I have a program like microsoft word open, and i have 5 different documents open...instead of clicking the red x is there a key command to close the window that is selected??

I would use this the same for instant messanger so if I have an IM open but want it to close, but not the entire program...is there a quick key command??

thanks
