I just downloaded Addium...not that i was unhappy with ichat, but to try something new. I zapped ichat so i no longer have it. My problem is Addium is not connecting to my AIM account. I then downloaded AIM an the same thing happens. It says:

Unkown socket error occured: 504,1

If anyone knows what this means please help....I really want to use the video chat feature!!

You've not got GlowWorm installed per-chance, have you?

Other than that, got your firewall up or blocking something? If you go to System Preferences > Security > Firewall tab > Click allow all incoming connections and see if it works after that.

I'm guessing not, It's not as if iChat.app is a protocol or anything...but, out of interest, when you 'zapped' it, did you just delete the .app file or do something else?

MBP 15" (Feb08) for my work, iMac G5 (ALS) for the lady, iBook G4 (RevB) for general use, Mac Mini G4 (RevA) under the TV.

Well, I found this which will show you what processes are using what ports:

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...70425165628961

If a program is already using the ports that Adium or AIM need to use, then you could verify at least that nothing else was using the ports you need to use. Looking at this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...P_port_numbers

It would seem that AIM uses 531 and 5190. Those are the two you'd want to check.

Same problem here! I installed Little Snitch, didn't care for it, and I deleted the program. Since then AIM hasn't worked. iChat works fine, though. I would really like to get AIM to work again, though.
