Removing messages

Ok, I give up. I was trying to remove the downloaded newsgroup message headers (and some files) from Entourage, is there a way to do this? I did a search using different words for doing this and came up with nada.

I was able to highlight all the headers and hit the delete icon but the headers are still visible.
