I have a HP Pavillion dv9000, and it's alright but not for what I want it. I've been thinking about getting the macbook 13" 2.4 ghz, 2gb, 160gb memory. I need it for music production and I might even use it for live performances. It also has a webcam right? I want to record videos (nothing fancy) of me playing and singing with my acoustic.. will the video and sound be synchronized? My hp makes things look out of synch and it looks dumb. What about the quality of the mic? If it sucks then no worries, I'll just use my condenser.
I also want it to make websites and graphics but I'm pretty sure it can handle that.. even my PC can do that. My final question, can I install the Zune software on a mac? I already googled that and I can't find the answer to my question. EDIT: Would it be stupid to also buy the 20" monitor? I know it'd be pretty hard to make graphics on the 13", but I really need a laptop for the live stuff, if not then I'd just get a laptop. Thanks in advance.

Zune software will not work on a Mac. I tried plugging in a friends Zune to my MB to see if it would read it as a hard drive, no dice. I like the UI on the Zune but am totally happy with my 80GB Video Ipod.
My previous laptop before my MB was a HP DV6000 w/Vista, I was happy with it but after I made the switch it made me realize how superior OSX is...IMO anyways! |

All the current portable Macs have a built in iSight Webcam. Works quite well.
The Zune issue is Microsoft. They will not (at least so far) release a driver or software for the Zune and any other OS but Vista and XP. |

Maybe it's one reason MS have a 3% market share with the Zune. Completely off topic, but this is an interesting article about Apple's market share: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/RDM...ED246674C.html Anyway, the MacBook can do everything you've described with ease, with the exception of talking to the Zune. |

Cosmic, if you really like your zune you could run windows on your mac. I'm sure you know about Bootcamp and the Virtual Machine software that will allow you to run XP/Vista and sync your zune. Depending on if you have access to discounted copies of the OS's through a job or school it might be worth it plus you would have it just incase you needed windows for a program. Otherwise I would say get an ipod.

That costs more right? I don't think I bought that. I'm already posting from my MacBook.
![]() It doesn't matter though. I also have another program that doesn't work on Macs so I'll be using my PC kind of often. The main reason I wanted this one is because it's small and compact and I can take it to shows. Thanks guys. :] |
