8-10 forums?
And do you spend as much time there as on this one?
No way! There isn't enough time in the day for all those forums.
I probably have 3 main forums I visit on daily basis. If I was to divide the amount of time spent daily at each of the three forums into percents, it would be:
- mac-forums, 80%
- daily forum #2, 15%
- daily forum #3, 5%
I have been a member on most of the forums I belong to for years...and have never seen any sort of "auto-closing" of threads on any of them. The topics vary from:
The forum topics are pretty varied...so it would seem that the "auto-closing" of threads idea would or could apply to any of them.
It seems to come down to either an inability of forum software to do this task (or do it easily)...or most forum owners / administrators looking at things in the much bigger picture than any of us individual members, see more advantages to leaving threads "open"...rather than auto-closing them after a certain period of inactivity.

I'm glad most of you like my idea. I know it doesn't happen all of the time, but it is annoying when it does happen. I just thought this wouldn't be too hard to implement and would stop all of those spammers or new people from posting in dead threads. Please try to keep this on topic, I would like it not to be closed. Thanks.

Some titles just seem to attract the spammers.
Hopefully new title will help alleviate it.

Closing it will stop them, too.
The thread has run its course and served its purpose, so it really doesn't need to stay open any longer.
