Pickle, you should get negative rep for bringing back alive THIS old thread.
C'mon now - no need to fan the flames.
The rep system is certainly open to abuse, and while we try to monitor it, there will be times that someone just doesn't see things the way you do and will leave you a negative feedback.
But if you are generally helpful and add value to the forum, positive rep will come your way in time. My advice is not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy the forum - if you feel something is unjustified, please feel free to contact me via PM or any one of the staff.

At the end of the day this is the internet. It's just imaginary rep and you do not know the person who gave you the rep. No need to take anything personal as it certainly is not. It does not effect the things you do and no one goes around treating you differently because of negative rep. Then when you close your browser it is all left behind you and online.

Interesting, those without many rep points are the ones who dislike the rep system and those with lots of points either like the system or don't care either way. Seems like some people are jealous or frustrated

Thanks for the offer on that. More than once I've gotten things that were really unnecessary. But to avoid boring everyone here, I'll just take it to PM if it ever happens again

I myself got deducted -10 points, just for asking a "spammer" to go spam somewhere else, and I know it came from a mod, judging from the amount of points.
Go figure... but I'm not gonna stand idly by, and let one negative comment
deprive future posters of a good answer to a question, or a wrong one, cause I've been known to give those too.

Let me guess which mod leaves anonymous negative feedback, you devil.
It may not have been a mod btw. The amount of points your rep rewards and deducts is based on a lot of things including how long you've been a member here and how much rep you currently have.

I couldn't really care less, I've had a signature that said :"use the rep system",
but since I like being on this forum and helping people where I can, and I don't want to let people think I'm doing this solely for some insignificant points,
so I removed it. (I just like my banner more!!)
IMHO this forum is all about participating, not about who's bigger, better or has the most points.

I wasn't making a statement, and if I was, it would be that whether you're a mod or not (like the sound of that), when the computer gets turned off at night or goes to sleep, there's nothing that distinguishes one from the other.
I believe that if a moderator can delete a post or ban a user, we can at least openly ask someone to take a preverbial hike, can't we?
I've had like 5 points back from some of my esteemed forumfriends, who remain anonymous, but still I feel it's a shot below the belt, especially since there's no name... I mean, what could I do from here...
One thing to note, PLEASE never respond to the Spam posts. Just report them so we can take care of them. I have seen many respond but never even report the post.
It makes our job a lot easier!
Also I never hand out Neg Rep except in rare cases when the person is being totally rude and even that is rare.

If someone deserves it, well... he deserves it, I probably deserved it too.
Now I know, and it won't happen again.
It's not so much what was sung, it was the tone of the music...
