I still use iDVD. I believe my Macs all came with it. Apple doesn't support it anymore, but it still works fine for me, if burning a video. iTunes for CDs and Disk Utility for everything else.

I don't see the problem here. Just a week ago I burned an MP4 file to DVD with iDVD and it played on a standard DVD player. Unless you need to edit the videos, there is no reason to even use iMovie....
