Itunes lets you register 3 computers to a song, so can have it on 3 separate computers you own.

And provided you are using the music for your own use, then you can copy it to a cd.

Start of messing around with garageband, and perhaps move on to Reason or Frooty Loops, and if you get a lot more serious, then Logic or Ableton Live.
Garageband is the only free one, good music...
