Just did a quick check on my 2013 MBA ( 8 GB /...

Just did a quick check on my 2013 MBA ( 8 GB / 512 GB SSD / i7 @ 1.7 Ghz ), no apps loaded and it takes 11 seconds to shut down. Mind you , my MBA was running for several weeks without a reboot....

The problem is that the MBA of your girlfriend shuts down faster than your MBA .

CPU & RAM have little effect on this kind of operation.
