Thanks for the tips. I bought it with Snow Leopard in time for the free Lion upgrade, and did so via the App Store the day it came out. Never recovered anything from the recovery partition, though....

Yeah, you're probably right. I get enough crap as it is for not being anti-mac, I would think I'd be used to whatever craziness comes my way. Most of the time I'm alright. I don't know what happened....

Some people have mixed feelings on this but you could look into Lo Jack for your laptop. If and when it connects to a network, it reports it's location based on IP and any other location information...

I agree. In the few weeks I've had my mac, I've found that a good rule of thumb is to try the device without it's drivers first and if you can't get it to work, THEN use the drivers it came with.

When I ran Windows 7 via Parallels, I didn't "register", nor did I have any additional accounts besides what it automatically loaded with. I think this is the default function. Just my two cents.
