you wont find a 160 at this moment unless you pay a huge and i mean huge premium so get the 120 and then get an external as i doubt that you actually need to carry 160Gb worth of data around

Have you tried booting from the different boot options when you hold down option? try the internal drive then if not then boot...

coach_z has it right about firewire its a constant 400Mbps not a burst rate which USB2 is

plus your h/w can still be verified with a bootable version of osx that each store has...

Dont think its going to work you will need a bugger power supply in the tower. Also with regards to the cpu have you actually checked that speed your getting as it sounds like your multiplier is too...
