Well, I am replacing it from a G4 500 mhz Powermac.
It's going to be used to surf the net and for iphoto.
I may use it later for gaming and stuff like that.
Thing that makes it difficult to decide...

I ended up buying a refreshed Mac Mini Intel Solo and after reading information on the Duo, I think I regret it.

I had the same problem when I was upgrading to Tiger. Not matter what I did it didn't want to load Tiger.
I found a solution for it though.
All you need is another mac computer with a firewire...

I think the reason you USB hub is not working is because the ibook USB ports are not powered. If you plug in the A/C adapter it should work.
