Hi

I have two G5's. one is a fairly new intel based G5, I use this for music production only. My other mac is a G5 1.8GHz single processor that I use on a daily basis for graphic and web design....

mac57 - sorry, my bad typing. What I mean is that the actual mac itself says 1.6 on the case and is the 1.6 model because it has 4 ram slots (not 8 like the 1.8) but the processor is definitely 1.8....

Yes, it is a single processor, I wondered the same thing too about why all fans are running?

I'm also pretty sure it's a hardware issue as I started the mac off a system...

Thanks, I tried deleting the prefs yesterday and still had the problem. I finally discovered it was a dodgy font... I closed all my fonts down and started Illustrator and it loads fine.
