From what I remember about iMovie, you can export your final project to QuickTime. The QT file will use only the post-editing video. That file should be the "proper" size.

Open iDVD and click at the bottom to bring up the map of the video. The places with errors will have X or ! telltales on the place of errors. Hover over the telltale and it will tell you the problem.

If that doesn't get it, the imported video may not be technically acceptable to FCP 5. I only use FCE so I can't help you there.

BTW, you tend to get more efficient answers if you put you hardware...

"unrendered" means it needs to be rendered....

"unrendered" means it needs to be rendered. Beeping means the same. To render it, click Sequence at the top of the screen to get a drop-down menu. Select Render All.

FCE will default to put the project file in...

FCE will default to put the project file in Documents. Leave it there. Double click the ext HD and create a folder such as "FCE Project." Open FCE and select System Settings. Select Scratch Disk....

Mine sometimes doesn't recognize my camcorder if I connect the camcorder after launching FCE. The fix is to exit FCE, connect the camcorder, and launch FCE.
