Screen Darkens - not sleep - after 30 seconds

If I'm not using the mouse or keyboard, my screen darkens about 20 percent after about 30 seconds, kind of like a pre-sleep. If I'm talking to somebody about what's on my screen, or just reading...

btw, if anyone is interested, you are supposed to click "...not connecting to the internet" to get past this step in the set-up. Totally counter-intuitive, as that is what you're supposed to be...
