I can give you the answer to the importance of a recovery partition ~ They can and will be use to Repair Disk Permissions, Repair Disks, Reset passwords and recover your OS and reinstall if need be....

I dont do plug-ins, as I only use FF as a backup browser, and the Dev .v for testing, so its clean skinned, with no bookmarks or anything.

If you can use Airdrop, having to correct iOS and OS X, use that, if not, the easiest way is to use something like Dropbox, upload the file on your Mac, and then 'open in' on your iPhone Dropbox....
