go into your home had, from startup, repair permissions, then reset pram, then reset smc, you will find it takes care of these issues and you will be back to normal ;D

a few tips

there are three things I did which solved this issue,

[1]repair disk permissions on user drive

[2]reset pram

[3]reset smc

Mail and Kernal task

When I run Apple Mail I am getting a blowout in Kernal task and it maxs out available memory. It only happens with mail, I have reinstalled Mavericks to no avail. Anybody have any idea on what may be...

In your applications find the WD Smartware app and Mount it, this seems to be an issue with WD and time machine, I have the same issue, and need to do this regularly. Your backups will be intact,

If you make sure you have Tiger 10.11, ensure it is .11, you can upgrade directly to Snow Leopard, and bypass Leopard

It wont hurt to leave it plugged in. To help retain/extend the life of your battery, let it go down to the red level about once per month, and then do a full recharge.

My own, which is an earlier model, 3G, is 3yrs old now, if 3G is turned off, I get two days still, if its on, only about 6hrs

Unless you are utilising it, click 3G to off, it sucks the battery quickly;P
