That seems to have fixed it! Well it's backed up...

That seems to have fixed it! Well it's backed up twice now without problems and the drive now appears in Finder and on my Desktop. I'll keep an eye on it but hopefully it's not failing as thinking...

I'll try that tonight when I get home but I'm not sure that this is the problem. The iMac is always connected to the router with a strong signal strength as the router is only 3 meters from the iMac....
