The IP blacklisting and rsa key authentication a secure solution but maybe a strong password with ssh running on a different port is enough.

Squi is a HTTP proxy and it looks all of your traffic goes through it. I presume it is the proxy of your ISP. It looks like it is your ISP who has problems so I would just wait.

Again I don't know how to set it up in 10.4. What I explained was the sharing setup in 10.5 then access it from 10.4. In this case you should not need any password when accessing the shares.

I think it is because you have both "AFP" and "Samba" protocols enabled in the sharing preferences hence the mac is shown twice. Note the icon of the mac shared via "Samba" is a PC with a blue screen...
