well you cant always do research first. i paid $50, so i guess ill just part it out, and sell the 4gb of Apple RAM that was in it, and try and get something for the rest.

To do a clean install you would need a retail version of OS X (Black discs)...then put them in and follow the propts.

Upgrading the memory will help also, the iMac G4 has a 1 SODIMM and 1 DIMM...

As far as i know they are not interchangeable. Which is one reason why they can be very pricey for a replacement. They are different voltages.

it all depends on the generation of G4 imac you have. The earlier ones only came with airport (wireless b) so if its an early one i recommend the usb wireless g adapter, but if it supports airport...

i bought mine on ebay...they seem to go for around $100. I think they have a larger cache also, but im not for sure...mine did run better because of the 2nd processor

You just need to be sure...

But not it is not difficult at all, just unscrew the fan...
