I'm using an EyeTV 250Plus and it works great. Setup is pretty straightforward and it does everything I need (watch tv, record, schedule tv show recording, export to any file format/devices...).

if by cover you mean a hardshell, then the InCase offers good protection. The Speck is also a good choice, but I tried both the InCase and the Speck and I prefer InCase.

I had the Speck cover and didn't like it that much. It makes the MBP look cheap (personal opinion, some might prefer the Speck compared to the InCase).

don't do it, you won't be able to eject it easily. Instead, it you really need to access it, put it in another computer (with a tray-loading) and copy the files on a usb drive or burn the mini-cd's...
