yeah that's exactly a list of issues I'm having, in addition to apps crashing. I work in Photoshop a lot, and it's a pain in the butt!
I have 8gb, I guess it's just still not enough for the demand...

Want to go back to Mavericks...how far back is too far?

Recently learned here that some problems I'm having with my 2010 MBP are because it needs more than it has, performance-wise, for Yosemite to run well. I've read that I can back up all of my files...

No, never used any virtual machine of any sort (that I'm aware of), or anything having to do with Windows...
DU confirms that the drive is a single partition.
EasyFind didn't find anything at all....
