I have used TeamViewer for years and am very happy with it. I can even use my phone to access other machines (PCs and macs)
Never had a popup so not sure whats happening there.

I have the firewall on my MacBook Pro turned on but off on My iMac.
The logic is that my IMac is behind my routers firewall but my MacBook, being mobile may not be.

Kies is rubbish. stick with Android File Transfer.
You may have to use Kies for Samsung system updates but I wouldn't use it for anything else.

In my opinion Windows 7 64 bit is the way to go

Just wanted to say this is very god advice. Hard drives are relatively cheap and Time Machine is easy to use.
Don't wait until something happens to your data before you think of a backup.
