Perhaps you're right, I'll move the router back to it's original spot tomorrow and see if performance improves. If so, I'll go with the long ethernet cable solution.

Never even bothered to check if my Late '07 MacBook was compatible with Mountain Lion. Turns out that it isn't, and thus Mavericks is a no-go as well.

Literally had this problem not more than 2 weeks ago, I brought it in for repairs and they replaced the inverter for me. It helped, as the screen does tend to stay on now, but will still flicker off...
