OK, now I'm really confused. Doing some research, I see it noted that Apple abandoned wtmp long ago (some say 10.4), so that file is usually now found to be empty in modern OSs. The user logs are now...

So where do I go from here? Not sure what you mean by "switches". "last t" isn't a command.

"last" doesn't work

Mac 10.8.5. Unix "last" is supposed to show recent logins by users. When I do "last" on this system, I just get ...

wtmp begins Thu Mar 12 21:30

... and that's it.

Where the date and time is...

Yes, that's a fair statement. I'm now running 10.6, which Apple says needs at least 1GB. When I look at the Activity Monitor, with just a browser open and running, the memory activity is bouncing...

Thanks. Yes, the 1+2GB was a hypothetical. In fact, right now it's got 0.5+0.5, which is really pretty weak. 2+2 seems like the right way to go.

Macbook 4.1 memory upgrade?

Two memory slots. Do both slots have to have identical SO-DIMMs? Or can I get 3GB total by putting a 1GB in one and a 2GB in the other slot?

1password sounds nice, but fifty bucks? Really? Geez. I don't need the extra utility for $50, I'd just like a secure compact place. A protected disk image is free, wonderfully secure, just not all...

I'd like to make a secure disk image that I can keep passwords in. Disk Utility does that nicely, BUT the minimum volume size is 10.5MB. Why is that? I want to keep a few hundred K of material...

wtmp log rotation??

I'm using 10.6.8. When I do "last" to mine wtmp to see who logged on when, I see something like "wtmp begins Thu Feb 12 11:45", which is fine, except that's what time it is right now. So it's as if...
