Can my iPhone be repaired?

Spilt wine on my lap. Took iPhone from trouser pocket. Didn't appear to be damaged but wiped off surface liquid. Later tried to use but dead. Is it worth taking/sending too Apple to assess?

I have just taken delivery of a second-hand iPad 2. It was badly packed and there is a dent next to the volume control.

Unlike my wife's iPad mini there appears to be one control rather than two....
