Will the Apple Store perform repairs on site?

My CD drive crapped out on me the other day. I want to get it fixed as soon as possible but I don't want to go for an extended amount of time without my macbook. If I take it in to the apple store, is the cd drive repair something they can do on site or will they have to send it in to apple to be fixed.

I wouldn't see why not, although they might need to order the part.
