Preview of the newest Intel chip, Penryn, by Maximum PC

Looks to be 22-40% faster than the current leader, the QX6800
Also, the new SSE4 instruction set pushed DivX encodes a whopping 111% faster

Wow, post # 666, is it a sign?

Wouldn't call that kicking them while they're down - that's just props to Intel for being better.

Now, when they start selling it 30% cheaper than AMDs badboy chips, that's the boot

A few years ago AMD were ahead of Intel, now it's the other way around. At that time I avoided Intel like the plague, but now I'd probably avoid AMD. In a few more years, they'll probably switch around again.

I don't think they will. That's when AMD first burst onto the scene and Intel had no real competition until then. Now that Intel has something to keep it moving in the right direction, they shouldn't go back to being so sluggish.
