Well, as a new Switcher to the wonderful Mac World, I can't but admit that those ads helped me quite a bit to make my decision.
Today I was just wondering which ad is favored by the members of the Mac World. For me it has to be the Security Ad, its just hillarious. I know how painful Windows Defender was on Win XP and not like the pain was with any benefit if it blocked one thing it let in a million!! Well, come on let me hear what you guys think, am just curious! :bone: |

I hate them all, I hate any kind of Ads or statements that sole purpose is to undermine the competition rather than boasting it's own benefits.

There's ads and then there's the Mac/PC ads ... I think they are in a catagory of their own. In today's world of high-tech special effects where thousands of $$ are spent on coming up with a great ad, Apple appears to have gone the opposite and spent very little to great effect IMHO. But I just think they are too simple and might offend if you looked like the PC guy but used a Mac...Lol

Not even people, even close friends, made a difference. Using both side by side did it for me. |

Could I suggest some French Lavander tea to calm you down?

I don't take things too seriously, so yea looking back does sound a bit aggressive but I wouldn't lose any sleep over the Ads. I just think they could of spent there money being more constructive than belittling the competition.

I'd have to say the "Home Video" one is my favourite... There's something about hairy, burly men in dresses that makes me laugh... especially because Windows created it.

I like Computer Cart too (and sabotage) and find most of them quite funny. I would have to agree with BIG D 04 though, they could definitely do a better job of advertising their products by actually showing them off. I know a lot of non-geeks who wouldn't know a Mac if they saw one - And are probably unaware that they're "real computers". It doesn't help that when you go to electrical stores like Curry's or Dixons all the Vista laptops have flashy demo videos playing while the Macbooks sit there looking dirty with keys missing and have been clearly set up by someone who knows very little (Almost as if the store doesn't realise they can make money out of Macs too...)
In fact, if we go back a couple years my knowledge of them was zero too - imagine my surprise when I saw an iMac G4 and was told it could do everything my big PC box did, and more. |

Exactly, I was in the same boat but I actively took the time out to seek an alternative to Windows. These Ads aren't showing people everything they need to know about Mac's.

True, but some people see an image of the iMac at the end of the ad and think they're looking at just an Apple monitor.

the one where mac is "talking" to the new Japanese printer or camera (whether you're watching the us or uk advert) is a close second. Please participate in our Member of the Month polls.
