 So I have a few questions about growing plants inside... I'm currently germinating a few seeds in cup of water, in a damp dark place. How long till the little white hairs show, so I can plant them? Will this water method even work, or should I use a damp paper towel? Which is better, natural sunlight on my windowsill or artificial light?

I'd probable grow in artificial light, as it can be more perfectly regulated/adjusted, and not dependent on the season/weather. Once planted... the soil should NOT be packed down.... think: Fluffy. I grow peppers, and buy the seedlings from this gal in CA.. She is AWESOME!!!! Here is a link to her instructions for growing... and they WORK!!! (CLICK!) What are you growing? I might get some plans to put the plant in a cabinet under my desk, with an artificial light and a fan in the back for ventilation. I'll be pretty upset if these seeds don't even sprout! Could I even just, put the seeds in the dirt, and hope for the best? Owner of a '89 Mk2 Jetta Can't forget those G3 iMacs! |

You could put them in the dirt.. just don't use too much water (common mistake). Think: Damp. Let the dirt dry out... then Damp again. What are you growing? |

Now if the weather would just cooperate (it's 40 degrees right now after having been in the 80s just a few weeks ago), I'd be in good shape. I guess I'm freezing my tuckus off.... Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics! |
