I am currently in weight training to get more in shape(and get credit for it :-P).

After the first week we have done a few tests to see where we are at fitness wise. As of now I am 175 lbs, 5 foot 6.

My test results were:
Sit and reach: 8 (inches??)
Situps: 31 in a minute
Pushups: 45 in a minute
Mile and a half: 14:03 minutes

In three months i will reasses, and i set my goals high. For you guys who work out, what are some small things I could do to increase my level of fitness. I have already switched from red meat to white meat and hopefully will quit drinking as much pop. Any tips?

Diet is important, cutting down on the white flour and sugar will help.

I would run a mile a day for a few weeks, then when your are comfortable with that, kick it up to 2 miles a day for a few weeks, etc, until your at about 5 miles day (find a good loop that is around you, not down hill, but try to avoid a track, they tend to get boring after a few times around and you can quit easily, if its loop that leads you 2.5 miles away from your house, then you have to run another 2.5 miles to get back)
