I have these RiData DVD R blank DVDs. I am trying to backup some of my favorite DVDs. After it is done burning and I put it in the DVD player it skips like crazy. I have used around 15 disks so far. I was wondering if the DVDs were a crappy brand, or something else that I may be doing wrong.

when you're burning the disks, what app are you using, and if given the choice, are you choosing a faster burn? if you are, try a slower option/speed.

i tend to stick to verbatim media, and have never had a problem (though haven't had problems with sony, tdk, maxell, or imation either - some of the other brands i've used heavily for optical media).

Well, there's your problem: you're using a PC. :-)

Seriously, you can rule out the brand of media by switching to a different brand.

Like Eric, I also tend to stick to brands I trust for optical media-- the only major brand I've had problems with over the years has been Imation.

Also, it could be your DVD burner on your PC, or it could be your DVD player. You have a lot of variables here.

I'd suggest also trying the burned discs in another DVD player to see if that helps you narrow down the problem.
